A few weeks ago I noticed a couple of red bumps on Alex's right leg. This is the same leg he has some eczema on, and so I thought it was related to that. The next morning he had a few more bumps on the same leg (no where else), so I took him into the Doctor. I was pretty shocked to hear that it was shingles (a rash from the same virus that causes chicken pox). Apparently it is very painful in adults, but in small children is isn't. He was mildly contagious, so we stayed home and played for a few days. The bumps never appeared anywhere besides his right leg. He seemed pretty normal, not in any pain, not itchy, just a little more tired. I guess it was a result of his chicken pox immunizations. Weird. Luckily, Alyssa never got it. I read that once you have had shingles, it can come back periodically, I sure hope not. Here is a picture, and some other pictures I took of them the same day with their cheesy tooth-filled smiles.
